Perfect

Perfect by Nicola Davies and illustrated by Cathy Fisher. Published by Graffeg Publishing

Perfect is about a young boy looking forward to his baby sisters arrival home. Expect when she arrives home she is not what he expected. A heartwarming and thoughtful story about love, acceptance and the importance of nature.

With beautiful and rich illustrations by Cathy Fisher. Every page is a work of art and captures the mood and atmosphere of the story. Each illustration is beautifully referenced and thoughtfully composed, with rich colours and exciting angles and viewpoints. Cathy Fisher captures the little boys personality really well. She draws him with realistic facial expressions and body language, capturing his innocence and child-like nature.

Both adults and children will enjoy this beautifully written story which follows a young boy as he watches the swifts outside his window and struggles to accept his new born sister. One of our favourite pages is a double page spread of a birds eye view of the garden, where the swifts are flying above.

The colour palette is bright and rich in warm tones from nature and the outdoors. The illustrations are full of life and texture, with bold brush strokes and textured paint marks. With great storytelling and nature inspired illustrations, this book will appeal to adults and children alike.
